Profound's ads strategy: a small Meta account, a big LinkedIn creator bench

Profound runs 52 Meta ads, 21 of them for one MongoDB case study, ~300 Google ads, and pays 5 outside creators to promote their LinkedIn posts.

Published . Ads collected from the public Meta, Google and LinkedIn ad libraries.

Profound has only 52 active ads on Meta, and 21 of them push the same MongoDB case study. The bigger bets sit elsewhere: about 300 ads in the Google Ads Transparency Center and, on LinkedIn, promoted posts written by outside creators and customers. Nine of the 11 Profound cards we captured on LinkedIn ran under a person's name, not the company page.

Key findings

  • One offer carries the Meta account: 21 of 52 ads (40%) send people to the MongoDB Grew AI Visibility 50% case study, all of them video.
  • Meta's impressions ranking is led by a product launch: the top 5 ads all promote FactCheck, live since September 11 and built on a single stat, 47% of response content was unsolicited.
  • The account is fresh: 32 of 52 ads (62%) started in October 2026, and none started before August 26.
  • Every Meta ad points to tryprofound.com or an event page, and none sends cold traffic to pricing or a self-serve trial. The closest to a hard ask is Book a Free AEO Audit Call, on 8 ads.
  • Delivery is surprisingly European: France (20), the UK (19), Spain (19) and Germany (18) each show nearly as many active ads as the US (27).
  • On LinkedIn, Profound pays to promote posts by 6 people, 5 of them outside the company, mostly as invites to its Zero Click events.
  • Google search ads lean on proof claims, Join brands driving 700% more AI visibility and G2 Winter 2026 Leader, under the advertiser name Cooper Square Technologies, Inc.

Seven messages, and one of them takes 40% of the Meta account

With 52 ads, Profound runs only seven distinct headlines. Each headline is a separate offer with its own landing page, and the variations inside each group are creative cuts, not copy tests. The MongoDB group is the clearest case: 21 ads share one headline and one line of body copy, MongoDB used Profound Agents to cut schema markup update time by almost 30%, while keeping expert review in the loop. What changes is the video.

The copy is short and built on a number. FactCheck opens with Profound analyzed over 50,000 LLM responses and found that 47% of response content was unsolicited. The AEO report ad uses a fear-of-missing-out line instead: AI Search has a leaderboard. Your brand is on it. Most teams have no idea where they rank or who's beating them. Neither names a price, and neither names a competitor.

Scaling is light. Meta reports 69 ad slots across the 52 records, and the most any creative is reused is 4 times (one Blueprint image and one audit-call image). Profound is adding new ads more than it is duplicating winners: 25 of the 32 October launches started between October 15 and 20.

The top-ranked video is a webcam clip; the case study runs on stock-style office footage

Meta's impressions sort puts five FactCheck ads at ranks 1 to 5. All five show the same frame: a man in a dark T-shirt with wired earbuds, filmed on what looks like a laptop camera against a blurred wall. It reads as a founder or team member explaining the feature, not a studio spot. The MongoDB group takes ranks 6 to 11 with polished footage instead: hands typing in an open-plan office, and a woman speaking to camera from a styled set with green lamps. The Aim ads show a woman from behind at a desk, with a Project panel and a Visibility score overlaid on the right.

FactCheck (ranks 1 and 2), MongoDB case study (ranks 6 and 10) and Aim (rank 12). Impressions rank is Meta's ordering among active ads.

The static ads share one design system: black background, white sans-serif headline, the Profound logo top left and a dotted particle texture. The strongest image in the set is the AEO report ad, a two-line chart where Traditional search clicks fall in red while AI answer volume climbs in green, under the line Ranking #1 on Google means less every quarter. It makes the whole category argument in one frame.

Statics: the AEO report chart (vertical), the Blueprint in square and vertical cuts, and the Singapore hiring happy hour.

One image ad is a hiring play. The Singapore happy hour ad lists Account Executive, Engagement Manager, Account Manager and GTM Associate roles and mentions the $180M Series D co-led by Sequoia Capital and Kleiner Perkins. It is the only Meta ad that also runs on WhatsApp. The round itself was announced in September at a $1.8B valuation (Profound newsroom).

Every ad sends people to content or a sales call, never to pricing

The funnel is split across three steps. Proof and launch content gets the most ads: the MongoDB case study and the FactCheck post together take 27 of 52. The MongoDB page stacks four numbers (50% more answer-engine visibility, 90%+ accuracy, 30% time saved, 5x citations) and ends in Get a Demo. Lead capture comes next: the Blueprint asks for first name, last name, work email and company before the download. The free AEO report offers a self-serve check behind an Analyze my brand button. Only the 8 audit-call ads go straight to contact sales.

Skipping pricing in ads fits the product. The pricing page shows a free 7-day trial and an Enterprise plan with custom pricing, so a click to pricing would end at a demo form anyway. The ads go straight for the demo or the email.

On LinkedIn, Profound buys reach through other people's profiles

A LinkedIn Ad Library search for Profound returns up to 2,227 ads, but the search is fuzzy: one of our 12 cards is Profound BV, a vibration-monitoring company, so the real number is lower. Of the 11 cards that belong to Profound, 9 are promoted personal posts from 6 people. Five are outside the company: SEO consultant Connor Gillivan, Forbes contributor Edward Frank Morris, Stacker CEO Noah Greenberg, Sifted's Aditi Mishra and AI creator Charlie Hills. The sixth is Mark Ebert, who leads global sales at Profound.

Most of these posts sell an event, not the software. Morris posts Meet me at Zero Click Eve for a Shoreditch, London evening on October 21; Mishra stands in front of the same event's sign. Ebert invites people to the Singapore happy hour, reusing the Meta image. Zero Click is a world tour (London, Sydney and Singapore, per the banner on Profound's site). Greenberg's post is the one product proof: it shows a screenshot of Profound's Aim recommending the single highest-impact LinkedIn post to improve Stacker's AI visibility, with a Build Agent button.

The last card is a message ad sent in the name of Sophie Piacentini, with the merge tags still visible in the library: Hey %FIRSTNAME%, Does %COMPANYNAME% get mentioned by ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and other leading answer engines? It names US Bank, Chime and Indeed as customers and offers the same free AEO audit as the Meta audit-call ads.

Google carries search capture and the brand film

The Google Ads Transparency Center shows about 300 ads for tryprofound.com, all under the legal name Cooper Square Technologies, Inc. Of the 12 creatives we captured, 8 are video and 4 are text; two of the captures did not render. The text ads rotate three headlines: Control Your AI Presence, Own Your AI Presence and #1 AI Visibility Platform. The copy names the engines (See exactly how ChatGPT and Perplexity describe your brand) and the proof points (Join brands driving 700% more AI visibility. G2 Winter 2026 Leader.), with sitelinks to pricing, the AEO report and a For Shopping page.

The Google videos cover more ground than Meta's. There is a FactCheck title card, an EVOLVE brand film, a screen recording captioned Content brief that targets the topic, a dashboard demo on a Nike workspace with a presenter in the corner, a conference-room presentation, and a black-and-white $180M funding video with two men standing in front of the number. Meta gets the performance cuts; YouTube gets the brand story.

What to take from it

  1. Build one case study into a whole ad group. Profound gives MongoDB 21 ads with fixed copy and varied footage, and they hold Meta impressions ranks 6 to 11.
  2. Launch a feature with a stat, not a feature list. FactCheck leads with 47% of response content was unsolicited and takes the top 5 impressions slots within weeks.
  3. Pay for posts from people your buyers already follow. Five outside creators and a customer CEO carry Profound's LinkedIn ads, mostly as event invitations rather than product pitches.
  4. Match the CTA to how you sell. With enterprise-only paid pricing, Profound sends cold clicks to proof, a gated guide or a free audit, and not to a pricing page.
  5. Reuse one visual system across channels. The same black, dotted Singapore creative runs on Meta and in an employee's promoted LinkedIn post.

How we collected this

We read the Meta Ad Library, the Google Ads Transparency Center and the LinkedIn Ad Library logged out on 2026-10-21. Meta reported 52 active ads for the TryProfound page and we collected all 52; 24 of them came with an image we could show. Meta's per-media and per-country counts returned zeros for some filters (for example image ads and Canada), which looked like soft blocks, so we left them out. Impressions rank is the position in Meta's own sort by impressions, not a spend figure, and Meta shows no spend data for ads outside the EU. The LinkedIn total comes from a name search that also matches other companies.
